"I've been a conveyancer for years so the conveyancing module was quite straightforward. The landlord and tenant module was really useful. I thought the accounts module would be my downfall. But the way it was broken down into manageable sections made it surprisingly easy to learn. I've just passed, and I'm applying to CLC for my license soon! Overall, it's a great course with great support. Highly recommended!" - Francesca Isaac (2024 Graduate)

Career Progression & Practical Experience
The Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice is the core academic qualification you need to become a licensed conveyancer. Upon successful completion and gaining your licence, you can work as a specialist property lawyer. With experience, you can progress to roles such as Senior Conveyancer, Team Leader, or even become a partner or director in a firm. A key advantage of the CLC route is the ability to set up and run your own conveyancing practice.
Yes. In addition to completing the Level 6 Diploma, you must gain a minimum of 1,200 hours of supervised practical experience in a regulated conveyancing or legal practice. This experience must be completed within the 36 months immediately before you apply for your first licence.
No. The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) has specific criteria for what it deems "Qualifying Work Experience." This practical experience must be gained either while you are studying for your diploma or after you have completed it. This is because the CLC requires you to be able to apply the knowledge and skills from the diploma directly in a professional environment. The experience must be gained under the supervision of a licensed conveyancer or another qualified legal professional within a CLC or SRA-regulated practice, and you must complete a minimum of 1,200 hours.
Yes, many students choose to work in a conveyancing firm while they study. This allows you to apply the knowledge you're learning directly to real-world cases, making the process of gaining your qualifications and practical experience more efficient.
Your practical experience must be supervised by a "Qualifying Authorised Person," such as a licensed conveyancer, a solicitor, or a CILEX Lawyer. This supervisor will guide you and certify that you have gained the necessary practical skills and experience to meet the CLC's requirements.
