CLC Conveyancing & Probate Courses
CLC Conveyancing & Probate Courses
Access Law Online brings every CLC-regulated conveyancing and probate qualification together in one place: the Level 4 and Level 6 Diplomas, the individual units that make them up, and fully-funded apprenticeship routes. Whether you are starting from scratch, building on existing experience, or an employer training your team, this page helps you find the right course and shows you exactly where to begin.
Which course is right for you?
There are two subjects you can qualify in with Access Law Online, and three ways to study each one. Conveyancing prepares you for a career handling property transactions as a Licensed Conveyancer. Probate prepares you to handle wills, estates and grants of representation as a Licensed Probate Practitioner. Both are qualified through the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), the specialist property law regulator for England and Wales, with qualifications co-awarded by SQA / Qualifications Scotland.
You can study either subject in one of three ways:
- The full diploma at Level 4 or Level 6, self-funded with interest-free monthly instalments.
- Individual units, one module at a time, which build towards the full diploma.
- An apprenticeship, funded by an employer through the apprenticeship levy or co-investment.

Prefer to study one unit at a time?
Every diploma is made up of individual units, and you can take them one by one. It is a flexible way to spread the cost, refresh a single area, or build towards the full qualification at your own pace. Each unit you complete counts towards the matching diploma.
Training your team? Consider an apprenticeship
Apprenticeships let a member of staff earn while they qualify, with the same CLC diplomas built into a structured programme. For employers, the cost is met through the apprenticeship levy or government co-investment rather than course fees. There are Level 4 Technician routes and Level 6 Licensed Conveyancer and Licensed Probate Practitioner routes.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Level 4 and Level 6 diplomas?
The Level 4 Diploma is the entry-level qualification and the natural starting point if you are new to conveyancing or probate. The Level 6 Diploma is the advanced qualification you move on to afterwards. To qualify fully as a Licensed Conveyancer or Licensed Probate Practitioner you normally complete both levels (or gain exemptions), alongside a period of supervised practical experience set by the CLC.
Can I buy individual modules instead of the full diploma?
Yes. Every diploma can be studied one unit at a time. Buying units individually lets you spread the cost or focus on a single topic, and each completed unit counts towards the matching diploma. You can browse the units in the conveyancing and probate module collections.
Do the individual units count towards the full diploma?
They do. The individual units are the same modules that make up the full Level 4 or Level 6 Diploma, so studying them one by one builds towards the complete qualification. This makes it easy to start small and add units as your budget and time allow.
Should I choose the self-funded or apprenticeship route?
Choose the self-funded diploma if you are studying independently and want to start straight away with interest-free instalments. Choose an apprenticeship if you are employed in a relevant role, or an employer training a member of staff, because the cost is met through apprenticeship funding rather than course fees. Both routes lead to the same CLC diplomas.
Are the qualifications recognised, and who awards them?
Yes. The diplomas are regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), the specialist property law regulator for England and Wales, and co-awarded with SQA / Qualifications Scotland. They are the recognised academic qualifications on the CLC route to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer or Licensed Probate Practitioner.
